Chanel's Little Black Jacket in Japan

Chanel's little black jacket has grown to become a symbol of elegance, femininity and power, making it a staple in the wardrobes of women across the globe. To ensure this timeless classic lives on, Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld have worked together in order to publish a book titled: 'The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's Classic Revisited'.


The book itself will feature over 100 photos documenting the journey of this iconic garment, including images of celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Alice Dellal and Georgia May Jagger all wearing the little black jacket in their own way. In addition to the book, Chanel have decided to bring a little Haute charm to the shores of Japan with a series of Chanel themed events running from the 21st March.


Today, the fashion world will flock to Tokyo for an exclusive preview of the 'Little Black Jacket' exhibition which depicts fashion and film luminaries wearing the iconic black tweed jacket in their own signature style. The photos, taken by Lagerfeld himself, offer a deep insight into the aesthetics of the brand whilst at the same time, narrating it's colourful and varied history. These photographs will make up the selection of images featured in Lagerfeld's 'The Little Black Jacket' book. 


As if the exhibition is not enough the satisfy any girl's Chanel craving, on the 22nd March, the brand are also re-staging their SS12 Haute Couture show which even includes the luxurious jumbo jet plane acting as the setting of the show. Once the exhibition and show have taken place, Lagerfeld is offering his Japanese fans with one last treat. From the 23rd March-15th April, Chanel will open a 300 square metre temporary boutique in Tokyo's fashion district, Omotesando. The entrance to the boutique will be a small courtyard which as been transformed into a luscious, Japanese garden and next to the boutique will be a small Parisian style cafe where people can sit back and imagine they are on the Rue Cambon.
